#JimFanningFriday 2026: CASIBOW ROYALE
Our community event this year takes its inspiration from 2026’s big anniversary film: 2006’s Casino Royale. Whether you’ve taken part in #JimFanningFriday before or whether it’s your first time, here’s everything you need to know.
It all started as a joke.
I typed #JimFanningFriday for the first time in an interaction with @really007pod and then @quantumofsilliness fanned the flames of inspiration. This was back in the pandemic and we were eager to bring people together at a time when we couldn't be together physically. You can read the whole history here.
The idea was to connect the Bond community by doing something which did not cost anyone anything. All people had to do to take part was put on a bow tie (or make one out of whatever they could find around the house), take a photo and use the #. I reposted everyone who put themselves - or their pets, we've had a few 🐕🐈🦜 - out there. As simple as that.
#JimFanningFriday was celebrated internationally for the first time in February 2021 and every year since.
2026 is the 20th anniversary of Casino Royale, a film that means a great deal to me personally, so I simply had to use it to name this year’s Jim Fanning Friday.
How to take part on 27 February 2026:
Put on a bow tie (or, if you’re shy, put it - safely! - on a pet)
Take a photo of yourself/pet
Post it with the #JimFanningFriday. If you also tag @licencetoqueer this reduces the chance of me accidentally missing it.
I’ll repost everyone who posts with the # and include them in the collage of all participants.
